Consecration is the magical act of burying a very powerful witch and absorbing their power. In 1742, a witch massacre wiped out all the Elders; the witches decided that the first person to consecrate the most powerful witch would become an Elder. Gwen needed to concecrate a powerful witch to complete the transition of superior status and concluding The Harvest.
History[]
In 1742, all the Elders in New Orleans were massacred and eradicated. In order to to conclude The Harvest and regain their power, the witches needed to become Elders. The witches decided that the first one to concecrate the most powerful witch would become an Elder within the jurisdiction of New Orleans, which is based on predominate oscillations of Ancestral Magic.
Incantation[]
While holding the skull over the bones of the witch, chant;
- I consecrate these bones to the Earth ancestors hear me,
- I consecrate these bones to the Earth ancestors hear me.
In Reality[]
In Wicca or Paganism, consecration is the ritual to purify either a tool, object or remains for magical uses through purifying the items. With salt (earth), water, incense (fire) and air to represent the four elements you clean the item before imbuing it with your own energy and power. This in the terms of a tool would mean it would work in tune with you and your castings and for remains it would link their power and yours together in one goal. Tools you might do this with include a magical knife or blade that you cut flowers and herbs with or work with outside. A bowl that you might keep on an alter, the alter cloth, any wand or crystals you use. These items become special and should only be used for magical purposes with regular cleansing to keep the energy pure. Remains were consecrated in ceremonies of family or covens to release the power and spirit of the lost individual back into nature and the group. Today it might be a personal item of the person rather than bones. If you have a lock of hair or tooth these could be used as a link but a piece of jewelry or treasured item can also be the link to that person. Exorcism in some practices are termed as a consecration of the individual, which is believed to be possessed as they have to be cleansed of the evil that has taken hold.
